Become a Caring Personal Support Worker

The Personal Support Worker Certification program at CCBST trains students to provide physical, psychological and social assistance to their patients. Develop the full range of skills required to assist people with their personal and household needs in order to ensure their contentment and well being.

You will learn how to best provide support and personal care to individuals including assisting with dressing, personal hygiene, mobility and routine activities in accordance with the Regulated Health Professionals Act.

During the Personal Support Worker Certification program, you’ll learn:

  • PSW Foundations

  • Safety and Mobility

  • Body Systems

  • Assisting with Personal Hygiene

  • Household Management, Nutrition and Hydration

  • Care Planning, Restorative Care, Documentation, Working in the Community

  • Assisting the Family, Growth and Development

  • Assisting the Dying Person

  • Assisting with Medications

  • Cognitive and Mental Health Issues and Brain Injuries

  • Clinical Placement (Community)

  • Clinical Placement (Facility)

  • CPR & First Aid

Personal Support Worker program also has an internship (practicum) component, so you’ll graduate with confidence in your skills and abilities.
